The Border Colloodle or Bordoodle is a purpose bred cross breed or mixed breed of TWO KNOWN pre selected parents.
It has been found by numerous owners that the Bordoodle or Border Colloodle is making a better active family pet or companion than either pure parent.
The Bordoodle is also known as the borderpoo, Colliepoo, Borderdoodle or Border Colloodle, they are quite simply a cross between the Border Collie and the Poodle (Toy, Miniature or Standard)
They come in all colors, the coats will vary from smooth wirehair (from smooth border collies) to rough "bearded collie" look alike (very rough coated border collie)
The size of the Bordoodle, will vary from very small (TOY) to large (STANDARD) depending on the type of poodle used, Toy, Miniature, Standard, but over all it will also depend on the Border Collie size and the genes both parents carry for size. The most common size is the Miniature (in between the Toy & Standard size)
Unless using a Standard Poodle (Standards will likely to produce large dogs well over the average size of the border collie, 22 plus inches tall) we cannot actually give any guarantee what size your puppy will ultimately be but in breeding the Miniature Bordoodle we are selecting for smaller border collie girls and our larger girls are used occasionally for the Standard Bordoodle, we will soon be introducing the TOY Bordoodle.
A Miniature Poodle to Border Collie will generally produce something between 15 inches to 20 inches tall at the shoulder (Smaller than a Female border collie).
At toy poodle to a Border collie will usually produce a Bordoodle between 13 inches and 18 inches. (similar size to the Cockerpoo)
However, whatever the size, the Bordoodle will require the same level of stimulation, training and obedience as both the Border Collie and the Poodle parents who are one of the top three most intelligent breeds, so watch out, they are amazing companions and will keep you on your toes but the joy and fun you will have on the journey with your Bordoodle will absolutely mind blowing.
The Bordoodle also must be kept well groomed (twice a week brushing as a minimum and clipping at least every two months), but this will be a fantastic way to build your relationship and companionship with each other.
Health tested clear for CEA, IGS, TNS
Our selected parents are health tested for over 211 diseases some are common to the Poodle and to the Border Collie, and to all breeds.
Fantastic nature, from long lines of biddable easy to train sheepdogs.
Stunning, wonderful bouncy friendly nature, bred for generations to be active cleaver companions.
The Standard Poodle was bred as a retriever of water fowl, the smaller varieties were developed over the last 150 years to fill the need as prized pets and companions.
Our Poodle sires are DNA tested normal for all the common poodle diseases.
vWD type 1,
Malignant Hyperthermia,
PRA-prcd
Our selected parents are health tested for the specific diseases for their breed and a few others to boot common to all dog breeds.

In looking for a name to call this Border collie x Poodle cross, I wanted something that clearly indicated the breeds used in the cross.
Borderdoodle and Bordoodle could just as easily be mistaken for border terrier cross.
The Doodle part, in my opinion, is derogatory and has links to the labradoodle, where the actual term "doodle" comes from. So I definitely want to discourage people from using the terms
Borderdoodle, Bordoodle and Doodle in connection with the Border Colloodle
Definitely NO!
Colliepoo, Colliedoodle, or Collieoodle
all indicate a cross with a Smooth or Rough collie which is a different breed to a Border Collie.
So using any of the following Colliepoo, Colliedoodle, or Collieoodle is totally out of the question.
In looking for a name to call this Border collie x Poodle cross, I wanted something that clearly indicated the breeds used in the cross.
Again the Borderpoo could just as easily be mistaken for border terrier cross. and even worse the Poo part, in my opinion, is even more derogatory than the doodle connotation and encourages images to every other type of poodle cross imaginable, it is certainly not regal and fitting for a clever agility loyal companion.
So I most definitely want to discourage people from using the terms Borderpoo, Colliepoo and other attachment with "poo" in the word trying to describe the Border Colloodle.
Easily a play on words.

Border Colloodle
The name is relatively easy to say and offers a full easily recognisable description of the two breeds used in the cross, nor
is it derogatory or misleading, like the terms Borderdoodle, Borderpoo or Bordoodle.
Border Colloodle
which at a push could easily be shortened to BCoodle which if changed to "B-cooddle" and then pronounced B-CUDDLE, produces a nick-name this is actually quite endearing and will keep folks guessing until they meet the dog what the breed make up is.
The only problem is, that though I believe this cross will love cuddles they will NOT be couch potatoes, they will to be very active clever dogs with reasoning powers to get their own way quite capable of manipulating and teaching the unsuspecting owners.
Just as you would expect a Borderdoodle, Borderpoo or a Colliepoo, Colliedoodle, Collieoodle etc. are all cross bred dogs. Since there is such a thing as market forces and fashion, the creation of these crosses are driven by consumer choice, so yes, they are also designer dogs. Unfortunately the term Designer dogs has an undercurrent of dubious breeding and animal welfare issues along with connections to puppy farms.
Poodle designer cross breeds are undoubtedly the most popular type of designer dog.
From the time the Labradoodle was first bred in 1988, interest in Poodle designer cross breeds has soared.
Five of the top ten designer cross breeds were Poodle cross breeds, the Cockapoo, Labradoodle, Cavapoo, Maltipoo and Golden Doodle.
Poodles have proved to be very effective in cross-breeding and Poodle cross breeds have proven to be family-friendly dogs.
You would be mistaken if you thought that there was NO registration process for these Designer dogs and cross breeds.
Designer Canine Registry
and a list of recognised crosses
Even the UK Kennel Club has a registry
Though at this early stage we are NOT considering registering any of our Border colloodle's
Breeding working border collies, I have been a council licensed breeder for over 25 years, first with the Angus Council in Scotland and now with the Shropshire Council in England.
It is fact that the poodle crosses are the most popular of all types of dogs as family pets,
The Doodles are now so popular that there is now a dedicated
so I believe that the Border Colloodle, in the UK, will happen with or without me,
I love and understand both breeds and the crosses I have met are stunning fun dogs which, if I lived in town, I would be proud to own a Bordoodle myself.
With the Border collie breed, I, and the ASTRA lines, have led the way on health testing, recording and puppy rearing methods,
we will do no less with our Border Colloodles or Bordoodle, making sure we test both parents for the majority of the diseases carried by either or both parent to ensure we produce the healthiest puppies possible,
They will be reared to the same high standards to prepare them for family life,
We even expect that, as my Border collie's have done and continue to do,
the Colloodles will be just as perfect working companions for some types of "search and rescue" and service dog work such as
PAT dogs and Dogs for the Disabled etc.
