These pups are from American Kennel club and UK Kennel club lines, the inclusion of the merle gene happened at least 30 years ago in the American Kennel Club, but only recently in the united Kingdom KC due to the imports of AKC registered dogs.

They will not be registered at the UK Kennel club who are racist and uninformed about the merle genetics. TheKC are also totally restrictive even of parti and phantom markings, allowing only the showing of SOILD colored puppies despite the fact that parti was historically a very common color before the formation of the Kennel Club.
ALL dogs were "crossbreeds" before the start of KC in 4 April 1873. with the Standard poodle in 1875.

They closed stud books which in turn has reduced genetic diversity and increased the chances of UNHEALTHY puppies in every breed they register. They have destroyed the original purpose of more breeds than you can imagine.
They would prefer to restrict new genetics based soley on on asthetics and misinformation of how healthy breeds are actually formed which will ensure that genetic diversity, health and temperament in the poodle continues to decline.
The Kennel club also have little regard to the promotion of health and temperament of the puppies they register.
SADLY, The UK Kennel club do not require more than ONE disease for the Toy Poodle and they do NOT insist that it is done for registration purposes.

PLEASE NOTE regarding the basics of MERLE:
Mating a merle to a merle is the ONLY way you can introduce certain health defects into the progeny. everyone should know this fact as a merle to merle mating can produce a percentage of deaf and blind puppies.
If breeding ANY dog, regardless of breed, which is, or could remotely be genetically a merle, they should be DNA tested prior to being mated to ensure you do not mistakenly mate a merle to a merle.
there are other factors too which produce Deaf puppies - for instance mating TWO PARTI POODLES together. They do not have to be merles either, yet the Kennel club do not restrict the mating of parti poodles nor do they insist on carrying out colour testing to prevent this happening nor do they insist on doing hearing tests in Dalmation and other white headed breeds (high risk in a parti poodle mating)
